The SKB box is made of a specially developed composite with outstanding thermal properties: the coefficient Usb from 0.29 W/(m²K) has been confirmed by testing at the IFT Rosenheim institute and puts the system in first place among its peers. To put it in context: at this level the shutter box stops being a cold bridge and performs on a par with an insulated wall.
Two sizes — 260×260 and 300×300 mm — are designed to be built fully into the insulation layer: once the facade is finished, the box is invisible. Inspection access is thought through in both directions: from inside the room or from outside through a clip-on aluminium profile that can be painted any RAL colour — so replacing a motor will not mean opening up the facade. Steel brackets with a thermal break are available for large curtains.
Adaptation profiles join the box to roughly 90 % of window systems on the market — the box clips or slides onto the frame while the window is being installed. The SKB Styroterm VENTI version with a reduced box was created for ventilated facades and clinker brickwork. The mosquito net is a built-in MKT or MPH; the SKB box can also house the mechanism of facade blinds. The curtain uses foam-filled aluminium or PVC.
